Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

To put it simply, MLD increases and enhances the movement of lymph. The massage is gentle and rhythmic, consisting of a pressure phase and a relaxation phase. (Klose Method)

  • The lymphatic system is composed of many structures and it is known for “recycling” & returning protein and water from the interstitium to the cardiovascular system. It absorbs protein, fat, and fat-soluble vitamins through lymph vessels. It helps with immunity by recognizing and responding to foreign cells and cancer cells.

    What is lymphedema?

A blockage of the lymph nodes caused by cancer, infections, parasites, scar tissue. The blockages prevent lymphatic return.

    1. Increased absorption of fluid into the lymphatic system.

    2. Increased lymph-angio activity. Helps with immunity and fluid balance.

    3. Soothing effect: it supports the nervous system and sleep.

    4. Analgesic Effect: Redirects ‘pain signals’ with increased nerve conduction.

    5. Re-direction of fluid from blocked areas, using ‘anastomoses’.
